Hi, I’m Maki.
This is my little collection of apps I build for fun. Some are useful, some are experiments, and a few started with “how hard could it be?” Apparently, this is my idea of relaxing.
What I learn from a visit
I collect basic usage details: device and browser, approximate location, where a visit came from, features used and time spent in an app. They help me figure out what’s useful, what needs fixing, and whether someone other than me is clicking around.
What stays out of the stats
I don’t save what you type, searched addresses, destinations or GPS coordinates in usage analytics. Visitor counts are estimates, not a list of names. I keep detailed usage records for about 90 days and daily totals without visitor identifiers for up to one year. A random, first-party cookie lasts up to 90 days and helps recognize the same browser on each app domain. It does not identify you by name or connect different devices.
A little help behind the scenes
I also record whether password unlocks succeed, declared bot families, normalized request categories, response times and errors. Request summaries are retained for 14 days and server resource samples for 30 days. Raw IP addresses are processed temporarily for location and Google bot verification, but are not saved in these analytics. I use cookies for sign-in and password-protected access, and Clerk handles my admin login. Maki Maps also sends searches and the locations needed for a route to its search and routing providers. Those services have their own privacy policies; you control location permissions in your browser.
Thanks for stopping by.
I hope you find something useful, or at least something fun. Thanks for giving my side projects a little time in your browser.
